The season kicks off with MYNYDDISLWYN MALE CHOIR on September 15 with an evening of traditional and modern music.
There are plenty of other musical offerings throughout the autumn season. Popular regulars BIG MAC’S WHOLLY SOUL BAND will be thrilling audiences on October 8 and multi-award winning Donna Marie Trego who is internationally acclaimed as the world’s most authentic Lady Gaga tribute act will perform in BORN THIS WAY on October 14.
West End star Rebecca Freckleton will be giving a powerhouse performance as Whitney Houston in WHITNEY QUEEN OF THE NIGHT on October 27 and multi-instrumental and vocal sextet ALLAN YN Y FAN will be delighting audiences on November 10, with their joyous, toetapping music and lively, light-hearted banter.
CWMBACH MALE CHOIR will be showcasing their beautiful sound on November 12 and some of the finest actor-musicians in the UK will be performing all the popular Buddy Holly hits in BUDDY HOLLY & THE CRICKETERS on November
17.
CARDIFF PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA return for their annual “Night at the Movies” on December 2 and the always popular MARKHAM BAND will return on December 3.
There’s superb drama lined up for audiences this season. With their high energy style and starring four of Wales’ finest comedy actors, Black RAT Productions’ will be premiering their brand new production of the non-stop comedy BOUNCERS by John Godber on October 4-6, before embarking on a tour of venues across Wales and Theatre company Motherlode perform their explosive new play THE GOOD EARTH on October 11.
THE REVLON GIRL, a sensitive, thoughtprovoking and deeply moving play based on real-life events following the Aberfan mining disaster will be performed on October 21 and 22 following critical acclaim in London’s West End, and on November 18 Screwpacket Playrights present LEST THEY FORGET by Mandy Carpenter.
Fans of dance will be fully catered for this season. CASCADE DANCE THEATRE will be presenting an eclectic mix of pieces on November 7 and on November 24 and 25, award-winning choreographer Gary Clarke brings COAL, his powerful and emotional dance theatre show about life at the coal face to Blackwood Miners’ Institute.
Families have lots to choose from including the interactive SPONGE for babies
aged six months – four years on October 19 and the fun and fabulous family show THE OWL AND THE PUSSYCAT’S TREASURY OF NONSENSE on October 26. Scamp Theatre present STICK MAN, (based on the book by Julia Donaldson, Illustrated by Axel Scheffler), on November 3 and don’t forget BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, this year’s Christmas panto starring Owen Money
which will run from December 7-30.
There’s even more to come! Caerphilly Youth Theatre will perform GREASE the musical on September 21 and 22, there’s a full production of one of the World’s most famous operas – DON GIOVANNI on October 25 and BBC Springwatch, Autumn watch and Winter watch presenters Martin Hughes – Games and Iolo Williams team up on Tuesday, November 1 in the informative and witty WILDLIFE ROAD TRIP.
If you’re looking for something naughty but nice then the UK’s biggest burlesque extravaganza AN EVENING OF BURLESQUE is on October 20.
There is hilarious stand-up on offer in the monthly ‘STUTE COMEDY NIGHTS
and part theatre, stand up, journalism and activism from comedian MARK THOMAS in his new show THE RED SHED on November 29.
