Owners Gareth and Rachel Clarke have already had 11 successful years with JBC Nutrition – an international company that creates sports nutrition products designed specifically for professional athletes to support them at all stages of their sporting activity – helping to maximise
their professional performance and enabling faster recovery.
JBC Nutrition supplies to many UK sports professionals such as Chris Walker-Hebborn an Olympic silver medal winner, Andy Burns a two time British judo champion, andWales’ Strongest Man winner (u80kg) Thumpa Todd.
So, offering healthy food options in a comfortable and relaxed setting was a natural progression for them.
“We noticed that a lot of our JBC Nutrition customers were complaining that there was nowhere in the city center to grab something healthy to eat, especially for those who are training and need to watch what they’re eating” explains Gareth.
“We decided to combine the two things, freshly prepared healthy food options and sports nutrition and supplements to create the Health Hut.
“The response since opening has been fantastic, and people cannot believe how great our prices are for the amount and quality of food served.
“I mean, where else in town can you get a 6oz steak and two eggs, with wilted spinach and chilli flakes priced at £5.95 for breakfast?”
On the menu you’ll find a whole host of wonderful treats to choose from, including an extensive breakfast menu that’s served daily until 11am.
Breakfast options include porridge, proats (everything that’s in porridge except with a scoop of Iso Whey), smashed avocado and eggs, a traditional lean full English, classic steak and eggs, smoked salmon bagel, and pancakes to name but a few.
For, lunch you can choose from lean burgers, but you can opt to have a potato waffle instead of a beef patty if you wish, a selection of freshly prepared wraps with an excellent range of healthy fillings, Pad Thai, and uild your own hut boxes, where you can tailormake your own box by choosing a base, protein, side and sauce.
To wash all this healthy food down, there’s a fine selection of hot and cold drinks, including great tasting Vienna Coffee, energy drinks and bottled
water, as well as a plenty of skinny shakes, mass building shakes, IsoWhey and meal replacement shakes.
On the menus you’ll find all the dietary information next to each item, informing you of the calorie intake. Every day, the dedicated chefs offer daily specials too, using fresh ingredients that are available on the day.
Also, look out for special themed days such as Caribbean Thursday and Burrito Friday.
One thing customers rave about, which you can purchase separately to take home and enjoy, is their selection of JBC zero sugar and zero fat
sauces. Flavours include garlic mayo, peanut butter, barbecue, curry and classic burger sauce to name but a few.
During the school holidays, Gareth and Rachel offer a special menu for children, where they can get a meal deal for just £3.50.
Diners have the option to eat in or takeaway. You can also pre-order your meal online to be ready within 20 minutes or simply call on the telephone.
During the festive season, Gareth and Rachel will also be serving a leaner roast dinner every Sunday, priced at £7.95, with either beef or chicken.
So, if you’re looking for a healthy alternative place to eat this lunchtime or require some much-needed energy before hitting the gym, then make your way to the Health Hut, where a very warm welcome awaits you!
