Voice’s Eatery of the Month is New Olé, a wonderful Spanish and Mediterranean-inspired dining destination that offers small plates in the form of freshly-prepared tapas and pintxo dishes.

Run and owned by Alexandra and Antonio, the couple have set out to wow the people of Newport with their authentic Spanish dishes.

The pair are extremely excited to have a business of their own – a lot of hard work and thought has gone in to perfecting what they offer, from the food and drink served to their online social media presence.

This dynamic duo has a great working partnership, where they are able to constantly bounce ideas off each other, with Alexandra as manager and Antonio as the head chef.

Voice’s Eatery of the Month only opened its doors on September 24 and has already had great praise for its food offerings. Tapas dishes start from £4 each and are much larger portions to what you’d usually expect.

Tapas dishes on the menu include albóndigas (delicious meatballs in a Spanish tomato sauce), croquetas de boletus (wild mushrooms croquettes – a best-seller!) and pinchos de pollo (grilled chicken skewers, served with fried potatoes and chimichurri sauce). Pintxo dishes start from £1.50 and are simply smaller dishes of the main menu.

There are loads of introductory offers for you to try the variety of dishes available, which include one pintxo, one tapas of the day and one soft drink for just £5. Children can get a fabulous meal-deal of a half portion of croquetas, a half portion of meatballs, a half portion of filloas (Spanish-style crêpes) with chocolate for dessert and a squash drink for only £5 too.

Antonio is originally from the Galicia region of northern Spain, so expect to find his style of cooking influenced by this region. For example, northern style dishes tend to have more meat in them and are slow-cooked for extra flavour.

New Olé is open six days a week from 4pm until 11pm, Tuesday to Sunday. Closed on Monday. You can choose to either dine at the venue with friends and family, order for collection or order for delivery via Just Eat online (delivery charges apply, starting from £1 – free delivery on all orders over £30 or more).
